The Seth Thomas "Eclipse" mantle clock stands head and shoulders above most other production models as one of their most popular and sought-after clocks. We have sold over 20 of these in the past and are pleased to have this nice example to offer our customers at this time. The eight-day brass movement is clean and runs well, keeping good time and the hour and half/hour strike performs properly also. The pendulum that Seth Thomas used on these clocks was their special, extra fancy design with a decorative insert in the center (see our photograph). A perfect label is retained inside the case. The door glass is original with a gold pattern showing birds and floral design. And take a look at those "S" "T" hands (included on some of the better Seth Thomas clocks. There is also an alarm mechanism which is complete and working but adjusted so that it will not go off accidentally and wake the whole household. These alarms are no longer used by owners due to the fact that when wound they continue to sound the alarm without stopping until fully run down. This is a very nice example of this popular clock and priced at a lower than to be expected amount.   « Less

The Ansonia Clock Company produced this attractive mantle clock in 1894 and named it the "Delhi". The case is clean and with a perfect finish. The wonderful door glass with the ANSONIA name (see photograph) was used by the company on several of its better clocks. The dial is original with a replaced paper cover and the hands, nickel pendulum and nickel dial rings are also original to the clock. The top ornament retains its carved crest which adds to the value of this premium quality case from Ansonia. Another in the collection of fourteen parlor clocks that we recently acquired from a Southern gentleman who really knows his clocks !!   « Less

Those that peruse our web site and inventory of antique clocks have probably noticed that we recently added over 14 clocks...many of which are fine-qualkity Walnut cased mantle clocks. We received these from a fine Southern gentleman whose taste in clocks is impeccable. This attractive specimen includes lots of originality. The door glass; pendulum; dial rings; movement; alarm mechanism and bell all started llife with the fancy Walnut case around 1884. The eight-day movement is running briskly and keeping good time. The gong sounds once every half-hour and then strikes the full hours on the hour. The alarm mechanism sounds on a cup bell. The dial paper is a replacement and includes the correct INGRAHAM name, Correct hands complete this nice example of the clock that Ingrahan named the "INDEX". A good buy at a reasonable price to compliment these recessionary times.   « Less

Clockmaking historians say that William Gilbert was a demanding taskmaster, insisting on excellence on the part of his employees and clockmaking staff. His clocks were therefore well-made and highly sought-after by customers who wanted better quality timepieces. This clock was named "THE PRINCE" by Gilbert and retains its originality throughout. There are no extra holes around the dial which marks it as original to the case and the eight-day brass movement runs well, keeping excellent time. The silver patterned door glass shows a marsh and pool with a crane and leaves in abundance. NOTE: There is a reflection on our photograph of the door glass. This is the camerman's fault and not a discoloration in the glass. The dial paper has been professionally replaced and correctly includes the GILBERT name. You rarely find lower prices for high quality clocks such as this. It's another in the collection that we recently added to our showroom.   « Less
