Directly from Jerusalem, Holy Land - A very nice example of Roman glassmaking, this lovely perfume vessel with lovely silver patina has survived the centuries with its beauty intact. Dated from, 100 - 200 AD.The globular body rising to a firm and graceful neck. Originally, such a vessel would have contained perfumes, perhaps the scent of roses that bloomed in Egypt or jasmine from Persia. Time has compensated for the loss of its ancient contents by giving it a silvery patina, the color of a moonlit sea. As we admire its graceful elegance, we cannot help but imagine the woman who tipped its contents onto her fingers long ago. 18th Century. Very rare, French perfume mixing bottle. This beautiful piece of hand made glass would have been used by a perfumer to mix a scent for a client, before the French Revolution. It is very heavy and asymmetrical in shape. It retains it's original silver ring, cover and cork plug. A virtually identical bottle was used in the recent movie "Perfume" about an 18th century French mass murdering perfumer. This is such a rare item it would make a perfect gift for an advanced perfume bottle collector. Excellent "as found" condition, with no damage.
