circa: 1910 width: 54 height: 32 length: 25 This unique kidney desk was crafted in England around 1910, during the Edwardian period. Today, the desk remains as beautiful as ever, with a lovely patina and a rich satinwood complexion. The grain also looks quite striking, especially because of the use of quarter veneering. The black leather, which is hand-worked with gold tooling, contrasts beautifully with the satinwood, as does the solid brass hardware. As is standard in fine furniture, each drawer features hand-cut dovetails, while the elegantly square tapered legs end in spade feet. One of the legs has a repaired break--which was performed excellently, so the desk is sturdy--and the leather has sustained a few minor scratches, but otherwise this desk remains in very good overall condition.
