Victorian, circa 1890 Matched (eyes, eyebrows and height slightly different) pair Staffordshire tan and cream seated cats with glass eyes and a bright gilt ribbon tied around their neck. Decorated all round. Two vent holes to reverse with another to underside. Underside unglazed. Good. No restoration. Cat 1: Slight rubbing to gilt. Kiln effects: thin enamel to right ear; small shrinkage crack to mold join at side; piece of kiln detritus to left paw; base is unevenly molded making the cat wobble slightly. Cat 2: Flakes to edge of right ear. Some rubbing to gilt. Kiln effect: over glazed manufacture chip to left ear. 12.75ins high
