William IV, dated circa 1830 Circa 1830 Memorial Sampler by Lydia Kenyon. Framed in a modern frame with glass. Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing. The sampler is worked in silk on canvas ground, in cross stitch throughout. Meandering leafy border. Colours green, gold and cream. Verse entitled ''In Memoiry of A Sister Martha Kenyon Who died September 29 1830 aged 33years'' reads ''Day after day i saw her fade> And gently sink away> Yet often in my heart I prayd> That she might longer stay> But twas not so for still she sank> The subject of decay> Yet while afflictions cup she drank> One murnur did not stray> And must a sister once so dear> No more by us be seen> No she no longer can appeare> For death hath step between'' and ''May angels guard her may they bless> Her slumbers in the wilderness>. Signed ''Lydia Kenyon work''. Good. No holes. A number of pale stain specks. No stitch losses. Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined. No colour run. Unevenly stretched. Sampler is over framed on two sides. Frame showing wear and chips, but structurally sound. 16ins by 16.5ins wide
