Southern Comfort Sign - M168 - For Sale

Southern Comfort Sign - M168
Price: $545.00
A rare neon advertising sign for Southern Comfort, late 1940's - early 1950's. Made by Lackner Clocks. Features a 3 dimensional sculptured scene, probably plaster, of a Southern paddle boat under sail with a full moon and a stunning painted mountain background. Details are amazingly sharp and clear, colors are bright and vibrant, surrounded by internal white neon tube. Sign is encased in a metal box with glass front. Original crackle finish and chrome strip on each side are in good condition. Just enough age wear to make it look authentic. There are a few very small dings in the metal, but nothing really notable. Even the original paper label is still mostly there. Wiring is just okay, neon works well. There is one small problem. Our dogs got frisky a couple of years ago, and caused a crack in the plaster. It follows the lettering, pretty much from one side to the other, although it's more noticeable on the left (as you're facing it). It's a hairline crack, and it's been there for over 2 years without any change, so I assume it's not going to get worse. If someone handy touched it up with a dark blue marker or a little paint it would be nearly impossible to see. This is a real bargain for someone with a steady hand and a little initiative. Priced to sell.
