Benham & Froud (attr.), English Aesthetic Movement, or "Arts & Crafts", mixed metal candle sticks. We believe this all original pair of heavy cast brass and copper candle sticks were made by the renowned English metal workers, Benham & Foud from a design by Christopher Dresser. Extremely stylish and of the highest quality, this lovely pair are complete and original down to the flower form candle snuffer that hangs on each stick. Each candle holder is made up of a heavy cast brass base, graceful center shaft with curved handle and single candle holder. The decorative elements are lighter weight but still substantial copper leaves that surround the candle holder as a bobeche and that join the brass center to the brass base. The removable flower smoke bells, formed to look like a "lily of the valley" are also copper. Good original "as found" condition with no damage or repairs, only old wax and grime from use. We did not want to clean them and disturb the fine original patina on the metals. The green is wax. 8 1/2 " tall x 4" wide x 4" x 4" base. Price 495.00 for the pair.
