Ameca-Ezatlán Style Jalisco Terracotta Sculpture of a Standing Woman - PF.0580, Origin: Jalisco, Mexico, Circa: 300 BC to 300 AD, Dimensions: 9.75" (24.8cm) high x 5.5" (14.0cm) wide, Catalogue: V2, Collection: Pre-Columbian, Style: Ameca-Ezatlán, Medium: Terracotta. This woman, with her rich, dark color, displays evidence of ritual scarification on her shoulders and of tatooing on her breasts and face. She displays these things proudly, wearing little else except earrings and a circlet on her head. She almost dares us to think of these markings as anything less than beautiful--and on her, they are.
