A grouping of 10 sterling silver forks made by S. Kirk & Son. Marked S. Kirk & Son Sterling, dating it to about the 1850's era. Samuel Kirk began his company in Baltimore, MD in 1815. When Samuel Kirk's son, Henry Child Kirk, became a partner in 1846 the firm's name was changed to Samuel Kirk & Son. Two other sons of Samuel Kirk, Charles D. and Clarence E. Kirk were admitted as partners in 1861 and the firm name was changed to Samuel Kirk & Sons. In 1868, the latter two brothers left the firm and the name was changed back to Samuel Kirk & Son. So, either 1846-1861 or 1868-1890 for a date for these forks. A beautiful repousse handle consisting of floral patterns. Each fork measures about 6 1/4" in length and all in good condition.
