Qing Dynasty - Famille Rose Buddhist 8 Auspicious Signs
Price: $800.00
This is a thinly potted tea cup depicting the Buddhist's eight auspicious signs which is found on the sole of Buddha's feet. They are the mystic knot, fish, wheel of the law, lotus, canopy, unbrella, conch shell and the jar. The tea cup stand on a short recessed foot-rim and into a U-shaped body and then with an everted mouth rim. On the cover of the tea cup, it is surrounded by the ruyi motive all around and four emblem of the auspicious signs. At the body of the tea cup, the mouth rim is also surrounded by the rui motifs. At the base towards the foot, it is surrounded by a layer of lappets of lime green and pink colour. At the base of the footrim, it has the four character mark of Daoguang reign. Given the lime green colour at the lappet and the turquiose colour at the ruyi, this could be a period piece from the Daoguang reign. I believe this is a mingyao piece. Cir. Mid 19th century.

The tea cup is in good condition. No repair, chip, crack, restoration or hairline. Minor manufacturing imperfection and light wear to the enamel.

The diameter at the mouth rim is 11.2cm and the height is the height is 7.4cm.
