The border adapts the cartouche elements into a running vine, but set against an aubergine ground that nicely contrasts with the field. Gold ground minor borders of vinescrolls aid in the transition between field and border. The uniformity of palette and scale applied adroitly throughout then carpet make it an eminently decorative piece despite its rich tonality.
