Antique Tabriz Rug from Persia, circa 1900Though woven in Tabriz, the field of this magnificent carpet has a grand, sweeping palmette design of classical Kerman derivation, with a smaller bouquet border of similar origin. The soft, beautiful coloration of the carpet, however, with its pale apricots, goldenrod, and pale slatey blues departs from the vibrant palette of classical Kermans. Instead it is supremely cool and decorative, and therefore well suited to contemporary taste and use.
