Antique Tabriz from Northwest Persia, early twentieth century The Herati pattern in the field of this exquisite antique Tabriz looks like a fine mesh of gold and lapis lazuli jewelry. Careful emphasis of certain details gives the impression of a larger diagonal lattice within the design. The undulating curvilinear sweep of the classic vinescroll and palmette border provides a nice contrast to the rectilinear accents of the field, while preserving the same overall coloration.
