Antique Kerman Long Carpet from Central Persia , circa 1900A veritable jungle of flowering vines, ferns, and palmettes in soft gold and blue sprawls in symmetry across the deep navy field of this sumptuous antique Kerman. A richly detailed vine scroll border with similar design on a finer scale, comprises the border in reverse tonality, blue on gold. Despite the lavish density of the design, the overall effect of the piece is still stately and reserved, owing to the cool, restricted coloration and the gentle controlled rhythms of the vines.
