Ancient Roman Glass in Sterling Silver Hamsa Pendant
Price: $85.00
Here we have a "Hand of Fatima" Pendant with roman glass inlay. The roman glass is approximately 2000 years old and was recovered from excavation sites in or around Jerusalem. The "Hand of Fatima" or "Hamsa" (khamsa) design is popular throughout the Middle East and North Africa. It is often used in jewelry or wall hangings and is believed to protect from the "evil eye". It is sometimes called the "Hand of Fatima", commemorating Fatima Zahra, the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad. The Roman glass is made from shards of larger pieces from over 2000 years ago. Each piece of Roman glass develops a unique patina and color so you will never find two pieces exactly alike. Also since the setting is completely handcrafted we can guarantee this piece is completely unique and you will never find another one like it. The setting is made from .925 sterling silver and is handmade by our very own Armenian Jewelers in the Old City of Jerusalem. Each piece is stamped as .925 Silver. Size: 3.5-8cm This piece comes complete with a certificate of authenticity issued by the Hamedian Gallery as authorized by the Israeli Antiquity Authority.
