Pair of Victorian Rose Diamond & Onyx Day - Night Earrings Circa. 1850-1860 British An extraordinary pair of earrings from the early Victorian era. Black onyx set in vermeil with 10 rose cut diamonds. Total weight of diamonds is approximately .40 carat. All diamonds tested with a diamond tester. Onyx tested with refractive index liquid. Coiled snake adorns the left and right earrings. Ladies would wear just the top of this pair during the day and would add the snake drop for evening wear. Each earring measures 2 1/2 inches long and 3/8 inch wide. 12.1 gr. 7.7 dwt. Unmarked.
