Rural scene of houses and land encircles the box. Hallmarks Paris, crowned "G" for 1723, crowned "A" for February 1722 - December 1726, the maker was Claude-Nicolas Grébeude, who worked in Paris from 1723-1751,the marks indicate that this box dates to 1723.The central emblem on the lid of the box represents the Order of Calatrava.
