Emile PRISSE D’AVENNES (1807-1879) : french engineer, traveller, archaelogist, egyptologist, born at Avesnes (North of France) on the 27.01.1807 - He visited twice Egypt (1827 to 1844 and 1858 to 1860), and he brought back, in addition to some exceptionnal pieces ( the chamber of ancestors of Thoutmosis III and the papyrus …,) a documentation of an incredible wealth.
An exhibition -(Visions d’Egypte from 1st of March 2011 to 05th of June 2011 (Richelieu/Galerie Mansart) organised by BNF in partnership with the LOUVRE Museum will propose to visitors a large part of the works realised by PRISSE -
