Large 19th century counter top balance scales, “W&T Avery, Birmingham, England, Class B, to weigh 7lb”(marked four times), porcelain pedestal, solid brass-each piece impressed “3”, reticulated cast iron harp with scrolls, anthemion and pineapple motif, cast iron base-marked “Avery, & numbered”, glass plate/disc on left side for holding item to be measured, brass dish on right side.
33.5” tall, 24” wide, approx 10" deep.
Condition – overall excellent, some glaze crazing on pedestal, missing the original flat porcelain plate on measuring arm(left side)-could be replaced with thick glass or brass plate of exactly two pounds to balance. 624
