This is a very old trunk and because of that it has lots of natural wear. Antique Folk Art Wood Carved Trunk with Painted Detail - it is about 25-1/2" long x 12-1/2" wide and 8-1/2" deep - it is heavily carved from a deep mahogany heavy wood that's reddish on the inside seen from a chipped top edge. The wood is dark and heavy it appears to be Mahogany but it could be some other heavy dark wood. The chest is very old and the paint is dull with patina and not as bright as the pictures. It has four legs fitted into the trunk one has been repaired with a nail. The hinges has come apart and one is missing. The hinges and the metal handles on the side has patina because of age. This is a very unique old trunk.
