A Country Chippendale Pierced Ribbon Back Rush Seated Birch Side Chair – Circa 1790.

This chair is made of solid birch with gorgeous, delicately carved ribbon back slats with a small heart pierced in the center. The square stiles are flattened and indented at the top in a thumb print. The square front legs are chamfered at the outer corner. The rear legs extend up to form the rear stiles and are raked to allow the back and legs to flair. The rush seat is in good condition.

• Rear stile height is 38 1/4” from floor.
• Seat height is 17”.
• Seat width is 20”.
• Seat depth is 14 ¾”.
• Width at top of stiles is 17 1/8”.
• Front to back full depth is 19 ¼”.
• Weight is 12 lbs.

This chair is solid and sturdy; the joints are tight and the rush is good.
