French faience sauce boat, of squat boat shape with gadrooned exterior, with two very small loop handles to the sides, painted inside in blue with a broad scrolling foliage border and a central flowerhead.
Attributed to Marsaille, c.1725
References: Ref. Fournier, Faience et Porcelaine de Marsaille, p24 for similar decoration, p56 for a similar sauceboat. This form is a distinctive French shape, made at numerous factories in the early 18th century.
Condition: small rim chip repaired
