This is an Okinawan Dachibin (hip flask) Awamori (Rice Sake) jug. It was brought back from the battle of Okinawa. It is crescent-shape with two lugs or loops on the outer side to hold a shoulder cord. These were used for farmers to carry water or Awamori in the mountains in the old days and having a curved shape it fits perfectly around the waist. Exceptional condition with only 2 small flakes, see photos. About 8” x 4 ½”. Probably early 20th century.
We combine shipping whenever possible.
