Gone with the Wind Hurricane Oil Lamp converted to electric. This beautiful piece is hand painted with roses on the globe and the base. The pearlescent colors include yellow, gold, pink, rose, green, white and shades of light brown. This piece includes 24 crystals that extend from the globe down to add sparkle. Crystals look good; the base appears to be brass cast. "Made in US of America" is marked on the knob that was in operation when it was an oil lamp. The modification from oil to electric makes this lamp a safe alternative without compromising the beauty and warmth of the lamp itself.
CONDITION:
There are no scratches, breaks cracks, dents, chips or repairs, except there are a few minor chips around the bottom rim of the top globe where it sits into the caddy. The chips are hidden inside the metal caddy and invisible when the globe is in place. These chips were probably made from removing the globe over the years, but in no way detract from it's overall appearance. On the brass collar just to the left near the knob there are some small dents. It appears that one of the 24 crystal prisms has a very slight hairline scratch and a couple tips are broken off that initially go unnoticed, however, mention for accuracy. The plug needs a cover or a replacement. Overall this lamp is in great condition and so beautiful (see photos).
MEASUREMENTS:
Base: 7 ½” square; Lamp: 29 ½” tall to the top of the clear glass hurricane; Globe: 12” in diameter. The top of the globe opening is 4 ½" in diameter.
