Unusual Wooden Flat Top Steamer Trunk.
THIS ITEM IS SOLD, PLEASE LOOK AT OUR OTHER ADS.
This trunk has a very nice combination of wood, leather, and metal components. This one has straps, buckles and a decorative trim. The Trunk appears to be made of pine, though unconfirmed, with wooden slats. It is a solid trunk with extra metal reinforcement along the edges. The hardware may be copper or brass, we know that it is metal. The straps appear to be the original leather. It has black metal mounts, leather strap handles on the sides, and 4 metal clasps on the front. The lock bares the maker's stamp “EAGLE LOCK CO. TERRYVILLE CT.” Eagle was one of the largest trunk and cabinet lock makers in the world. Terryville is now the location for the Lock Museum of America.
CONDITION:
The trunk is in good condition, it does have season marks from years of use. There are wear marks throughout, but no major damage to the trunk itself. The wooden body is solid and the hinges are in tact. The lock in the front is broken but can be restored.
(See photos.) These trunks have immense character and make great gifts in original condition or completely restored.
MEASUREMENTS: 36" long x 19.5" wide x 24" tall.
This trunk could double as a great coffee table or storage piece for college students, newlyweds or anyone with limited space where additional storage is needed or desired.
