A large 3 medallion Raeren Krug made by Jan Emens with fantastic coats of arms; signed and dated in all 3 medallions!
Fantastic coat of arms with a knight on a rearing horse brandishing a sword in a shield and the initials “IE” below, surrounded by decorative sprays and toped by a barrel helm with rearing horse emerging from it! A really GREAT coat of arms!
This jug was excavated and was most probably burnt in a rubbish pit in ancient times. There is some heavy surface oxidation, some hairlines and a small hole in the side, see photos. No repairs or restorations just the usual kiln blemishes.
An important signed and dated Raeren jug by one of the most important 16th century potters!
