A hard-to-find signed Russell and Erwin “Carpenter Pattern” horizontal rim lever lock, dating from the early to mid 19th Century. Featuring a seal with an eagle signed “Russell Erwin & Co Manufacturers,” this carpenter lock includes its original large skeleton key and catch. The skeleton key has an oval tab of wood wired to it -- an intriguing primitive keychain. The box lock functions well. The lock body is 5” by 3-3/4”; the catch is 3-3/4” by 1-1/8”.
