Striking rare set of four large 18th Century Chinese embroidered silk panels. Each silk panel is delicately embroidered with birds including cranes, pheasants, peacocks, magpies and parrots, all among flowering and fruiting branches in white on a rose background. Dimensions: Each panel is 43.50" (110.49cm) X 17.25" (43.82cm), individually framed. Condition: Overall good condition for age. Some wear at the top of the panels, one point of wear on the fourth panel. Value for such a set is supported by recorded public sales including the sale price of $28,683 for Lot # 202 "A Set of Four Embroidered Panels" (same size, style, quality, yet newer)at Christie's London on June 15th, 1999 (see photo of comp. listed here).
