Striking rare old antique Thai 16th to 17th Century Ayutthaya Kampheng Pet style, bronze figure of Buddha Sakyamuni (The Awakened One) with hands in the calming of the seas Mudra (gesture). Buddha, wearing samghati with flaring sides, his face with serene expression, arched eyebrows above closed eyes, aquiline nose, smiling lips, elongated earlobes, hairdress and usnisha, the former surmounted by additional smaller cones and covered with traces of gilt. The oval back piece of the crown covers the head right down to the neck. Note the beautiful patina and remaining original rich gold gilting. Circa 16th to 17th Century.
