This is monumental pair of French country pottery known as Barbatine. The majolica vases have a muted dark green backround with brown handles that have lion heads. The fronts of the vases are covered with applied roses, vines and green foliage, The roses show a few nips and petal losses as is expected in soft paste pottery from this era.
