Magnificent Antique Gothic Revival Butternut & Walnut Liturgical Armoire, c. 1870’s NWF2 - For Sale

Magnificent Antique Gothic Revival Butternut & Walnut Liturgical Armoire, c. 1870’s NWF2
Price: $4500.00
This is a regal antique Gothic Revival liturgical armoire, made of butternut and walnut wood, dating from the 1870’s. Butternut, a member of the walnut family, is used in fine furniture and is somewhat uncommon; it has a lovely grain and a warm golden color. This armoire features a cabinet with glass doors across the top center section, with a Gothic arch panel in the center, followed by a trio of small drawers below. A shelf beneath the three drawers tops six large, shallow drawers that extend across the entire center section. The center section is flanked by a pair of large, glass-sided cabinets, which were originally used for vestments, but could easily be fitted with shelves. Each cabinet has a drawer beneath. Several of the drawers and all of the glass panels feature walnut borders with an unusually shaped Gothic design. The top of the armoire is bordered with a beautifully carved arch pattern. Originally used in a church, this armoire would make a splendid bar back or butler’s pantry. It is in excellent condition and measures approx. 101 ½” wide, 30 ½” deep, and 86” tall.
