This is a very unusual, fascinating pair of figural antique cast iron sconces, signed by their maker, the Brandt Manufacturing Company. Dating from the 1920’s, these double-arm sconces feature a round back plate with a chapel rising from the top. The center of the back plate features a delightful, superbly cast rural scene of a windmill, a fence, a stone-bordered path, and a woman; the bottom of the back plate features a seascape with several fishing boats. The arms and the border of the back plate feature a detailed bead-and-reel pattern. The arms extend from the bottom portion of the back plate and curve outward to accept intricately cast bobeches. The wall lamps are in excellent condition. They have been professionally rewired and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. We kept the original nonfunctioning turn switches on the sconces for nostalgia’s sake; however, we will gladly replace them with new ones if desired. The sconces are 9” wide, 10 ¼” tall, and protrude 4” from the wall.
