Each of the quilt blocks is also hand painted with the favorite flower of each of the women using textile paint (color fast). The women were farmers'' wives in rural Kirksville, Missouri. Dated 1951, all cotton, all hand quilting at 7 stitches per inch in wreath and swag designs and with diagonal, horizontal and vertical lines 3/4'' apart, the assembled blocks are bordered in hand painted flowers.
