THIS ITEM IS SOLD - Classic ''Monkey Wrench'' design also known as ''Hole in the Barn Door'', ''Puss in the Corner'', ''Sherman''s March'', ''Shoo-Fly'', ''Lincoln''s Platform'' and ''Love Not''. In different regions and at different times anyone of these names might have been used. The monkey wrenches are framed by classic ''Nine Patches''. The calico fabrics and brilliant solid blue background are all as fresh and bright as the day they were new. The hand stitched quilting is a very impressive 10 stitches per inch and done in the classic designs of the time; swags, tulips, conch shells and diagonal parallel lines. The batting is thin, the backing is in very good condition and shows minor discoloration (not dirt) at the fold lines. The one section of the backing that is a different shade of blue is most likely the result of the quilter''s having run out of the brighter blue, as there is no evidence to suggest a repair. 76'' X 90'', Circa 1930, professionally washed.
