FANCY WALNUT MANTLE CLOCK BY THE E. INGRAHAM CO.-BRISTOL, CT
The E. Ingraham Clock Company named this model the "INGOT". Its fancy case reflects the Victorian love of elaborate attachments, turnings and wood trim. Made in 1880, this is a very nicely restored clock that runs strongly, keeping excellent time and striking the hours properly. The 1880 Patent date is stamped into the brass dial bezel and the face is clean and well preserved with the logo of the E. J. Swiggart Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. Many antique clocks include a Swiggart dial. His initials seem to be a mystery to some antique dealers. But research articles by the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors document his services to the industry in the 19th Century. This clock is a handsome example of the Ingraham company's extensive line of clocks and watches.
