We've been in the antique clock business for more than a quarter century....and never had a chance to own an Ingraham "SHEKEL". I was tempted to add this clock to our own collection, but my wife reminded me that we're in the business of SELLING clocks....so I agreed to put it onto our FOR SALE inventory. The mechanism has had some work over the years and now runs properly. I always mention this so that buyers will understand that this movement has been running for over 117 years and needed some attention along the way. A former owner secured the movement to the back of the case using bolts instead of the usual screws. This results in a rock-solid attachment...although it isn't the way the Ingraham people initially installed it. I'd leave it alone since the nuts and bolts are behind the case and therefore invisible. The Lion's head on the crown of the clock and the two small statues flanking the case have been re-gilded and are now finished in like-new bright gold. If you are looking for a very scarce antique clock with lots of interesting detail---you should give this beauty your most serious consideration.
