SETH THOMAS #2 EIGHT-DAY WALL REGULATOR
The Seth Thomas Clock Company retained their Thomaston, Connecticut address on the label inside their #2 regulators even though only the movements were made in Connecticut after they moved to New York City. The older trapazoid-shaped movements like the one in this clock are more sought-after because they have not been duplicated or reproduced overseas (as have some of the square-plate movements). The dials on most Seth Thomas #2 clocks have pretty well flaked away and on this clock, the original dial was restored professionally on its old zinc pan. There are no extra dial screw holes on the case-- attesting to the originality of this dial pan. Both door glasses are original as is the pendulum, bob and weight. This is one of the nicer examples of this genre with the 'chimneys' on the bottom of the case retaining all their "buttons'. The 2004 Price Guide to Seth Thomas clocks lists this model at $2500. Our price......four years later remains the same ($2495)due to a fortunate buy from a friend who is selling his clocks to me at great prices.
