*****
Diadochi literally translates from the Greek as “Successors”. While the literal translation could refer to any of the many figures vying for power after the death of Alexander the Great it is most generally used to refer to the two most successful successor dynasties, the Ptolemies in Egypt and the Seleucids in Syria.

The Kingdom of the Diadochi refers to the period which followed period of turmoil called The Wars of the Diadochi which lasted from the 322-275 B.C. as a response to the power vacuum left by Alexander’s death in 323 B.C. It was during the period of The Wars of the Diadochi that the Ptolemaic and the Seleucid dynasty established themselves.
