Pair of French Louis XV Style Fauteuil Arm Chairs

This is a beautiful early pair of Louis XV style fauteuil arm chairs, each with carefully carved and painted frames. The crest rail culminates in both chairs as a bouquet of flowers, spreading outward into the thin molded rail as it rounds the upholstered back to flow into curved upholstered arms, each with precisely carved scrolled handholds over flowing arm supports, flanking a very comfortable upholstered seat that is stuffed over the rail and lined with round brass tacks. A stunning overall presentation that rests over an exposed carved and molded apron with a similarly carved focal point of flowers springing outwards along the center of the apron. The chair is supported over cabriole front legs that terminate in curled french toes.
This is a beautiful pair of chairs for anyone looking for some age and a natural patina in their collection. With years of acquired dings, dirt and rubbing, the finish absolutely glows on this pair with an overall distressing that is achieved naturally. They have wonderful form, an overall thin profile coupled with the flowing lines and tight precise carvings to truly capture the essence of the original Louis XV Rococo spirit. This is an outstanding selection for anyone looking for fully functional and sturdy chairs to be used regularly in their home while absolutely enhancing any room they become a part of.

Visually Outstanding Condition
Both chairs upholstery have water stains, the fabric being dirty and worn - it will almost certainly need to be replaced due to the water stains. Finish is heavily distressed, meaning significant chips, paint wear, dings and abrasions - however, this truly just adds character to the chairs, none of it being visually detracting. Very strong and sturdy in all joints.
