Enormous five foot wide, three and half foot tall, three foot deep, Iron-clad trunk from the British Raj era Jodhpur region of Northern India. This This chest came from the trading ship Buckinghamshire, one of the Honourable East India Company's (HEIC) fleet, which was built in Bombay, India in 1816 and retired in 1834. It was used as a Captain's chest by Captain Moore of this vessel. The fine decorative metal work and heavy iron work is that of the skilled Marwari craftsmen of the Jodhpur area. Classic rounded top (to keep chest accessible and free from clutter). The skeleton of this massive chest is heavy teakwood. Circa 1820s. 42" h. X 62" w. X 38" d.   « Less
