Exceptionally fine Classical work stand in mahogany. This superb needle work table features a full fitted interior with extra fine contrasting wood inlay and small original knobs, the majority of which retain their original "mother of pearl" centers. The central monogrammed compartment (script MR), lifts out to reveal another fitted compartment for thread, which in turn lifts out to access the large pine center "bag". The top, base and deep ogee molding are all fashioned from dramatically figured crotch mahogany. The sides consist of slightly tapered trestle columns with fine raised carving and elegantly scrolled supports, all of which rests on four well-carved solid mahogany paw feet. The storage bag is covered in old but not original soft gold velvet with matching fringe. We have cleaned and French polished this fine piece back to it's original beauty. It has never been refinished and all the hardware is original and brass. 29 1/4" tall x 24 1/4" wide x 17 5/8" deep.
