Late 18th Century German Warzen Flask (wart flask / poison bottle). #B789
Here is a nice little whiskey or schnapps flask known in Europe as a “warzen flasche” (wart flask). This one is made in a dip mold and has a striking optical effect. In America these types are sometimes referred to as poison flasks because poisonous mixtures were sometimes kept in such bottles so they can be distinguished in the dark by feel (days of candle light). It is 5 1/4” tall with a slight base kick-up and pontil scar on its base. Clear glass with a slight amethyst tint. Nice fat, sauat form! There is a inner haze spot near the base, otherwise perfect!
