Antique American Brilliant Cut Glass Bowl Beautiful
Its our pleasure to offer you this beautiful ABCG (American Brilliant Cut Glass) antique bowl, circa mid to late 1800's. The bowl stands 4 1/4" high and is 9 1/2" in diameter at the top. There are no chips or cracks, but there is the obligatory minor nic here or there. A spectacular light refraction when held up to a light and a great "ping" when tapped. We have not been able to ID the maker or pattern yet. A superb piece for any glass collection. A reader wrote this to us: Hi - Your lovely bowl is pictured in the 1898 Higgins & Seiter catalog reprinted by the research group LABAC early last year. Higgins & Seiter named the pattern "Webster" and in 1898 this bowl cost $12.00. Higgins & Seiter was not known to be a cutting company and bought cut glass from better companies such as Libbey and Hoare; however, some patterns in H&S catalogs have been unattributable to any known maker and are simply identified as Higgins & Seiter. This "Webster" pattern is one of those patterns.
