The impression is strong, the paper, crisp and very clean, the original color still vibrant. The lower margin has been recently and expertly replaced to the edge of the plate. Very good condition. Beautiful map of the Americas, showing California as an island, with “Terra Aesonis” to the north, and “Japoniae Ins.” and “Yedso” at North east of the map. Parts of Australia and “Zeelandia Nova” at lower left. Decorated cartouche at the lower left is same as Valck’s 1710 map, with the crest of feathers above the title and the native Americans to the right.. The Allard family often based their maps on Blaeu, Jansson, de Wit and Visscher.
