EUROPEAN GERMAN PORCELAIN FIGURE W/ MANDOLIN - For Sale

EUROPEAN GERMAN PORCELAIN FIGURE W/ MANDOLIN
Price: $650.00
Circa 1800 European probably German Figure measuring 8 1/4" in height sitting on a tree stump playing a musical instrument that resembles a guitar but is either a banjo, mandolin or a string instrument of this kind. There is a mark under the base which is a X (CROSS)There is a faint mark at the ends of the X which would make you think of a crossed swords mark as in Meissen but I do not think so. There is another mark in blue glaze at the top of the X but we cannot decipher it either. The meissen mark as we all know is a crossed sword, but this could be Volkstedt. Good Condition with only a few firing marks under the base. The basket of flowers has no chips or losses which is usually common. That mark in blue glaze at the top of the X could also be a t, indicating an early mark of Carl Thieme of Dresden and Saxony Porcelain Factory.
