Victorian, circa 1860 Pair Staffordshire figures of a young boy and girl, possibly the Royal children, each lying on the back of a russet and white spaniel. Dull gilt base line and decoration to the girl figure. One arm of each child and three spaniel legs are molded free. Vent hole to undersides. Painted mark to underside of the boy figure. Similar pair illustrated figure 2243/2244, page 147, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 2, by A.& N. Harding. Good. No restoration. Boy: Small flake to base edge. Rubbing/fading to green and black enamel. Kiln effect: fine kiln soot caught in the glaze to the front. Girl: Paint loss to the spaniel''s pupils, and one to her hair. Some rubbing to the spaniel''s tail. Slight rubbing to gilt. Kiln effect: glaze miss to base front. 9ins high
