Victorian, circa 1870 Staffordshire figure of Romeo and Juliet with their arms wrapped around each other. Modeled in the style of the Parr factory. Black transfer print to base front which reads ''Jul. O. think''st thou we shall ever meet again? Rom. I doubt it not; and all these woes shall serve For sweet discourses in our time to come''. Arms and one of Romeo''s legs are molded free. Similar piece illustrated figure 1073, page 295, Schiffer''s ''Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875'' Book 1, by A.& N. Harding. Generally good. No cracks. Hairline running around underside of base. Slight rubbing to the ground. Kiln effect: couple of stray cobalt specks to Juliet. Restored chip to Romeo''s right toe. Retouching to hair, Romeo''s jacket, skirt and shoes. Old repair to Romeo''s neck. Old restoration of his left arm. 10.5ins high
