George IV, dated May 31 1830 1830 Silkwork Sampler by Eliza Wilson. Framed in an old ''molded composition over wood'' frame with rippled, old glass. Loose mounted over card with wood backing and brown paper dust cover. The sampler is worked in fine silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Meandering floral border. Colours green, dark brown, gold, light green, cream and olive green. Verse entitled ''ON PRAYER'' reads ''Almighty God Who dwellest above> In Realms of brightest Day> Where all his peace and all is love> O hear me when I pray''. Signed and dated ''Eliza Wilson Aged 13 years May 31 1830''. A scattering of motifs, including flowers, birds, angels, potted flowering plants, acorns, fruit baskets, insects and fir trees. Good. A number of holes. No stains other than slight uniform age darkening of the ground. No stitch losses other than to the holed areas. Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. The silks bright and glossy. No colour run. Unevenly stretched. Frame showing wear and chips, but structurally sound and ready to hang. 15.5ins by 12.5ins wide
