Weller Pottery, Glendale Wall Pocket, Cornucopia, Crisp Mold~~
Price: $595.00
For Sale I have a lovely piece of pottery made by The Weller Pottey Company of Zanesville, Ohio. The shape is a Wall Pocket and the pattern is known as "Glendale". The Wall Pocket measures 12 1/2" long, 6 1/4" in diameter and is 2 1/4" deep. The Wall Pocket depicts a naturalistic scene of a mother Bluebird with her three hungry chicks sitting in a nest. The mother sits watchfully on a nearby branch amongst flowers and leaves. The colors and detail on this piece are just fabulous. There are no glaze runs to make this piece the slightest bit distorted. It is a Cornucopia shape shape which gives substantial height to this gem. The Glendale pattern is fairly difficult to come across and the Wall Pocket even more so. The piece is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips, nicks or dings. There is very minor crazing that does not detract from the Wall Pocket at all. The piece is unsigned except for the mark "11X" written in grease pencil which is most likely the finishers mark. The Wall Pocket was made Circa 1920-1925.
