A very early pre-civil war quilt done in a large block pattern of 36 patches. Each block is 16" square with 3" laterals and a 7" border. The fabrics are 100% cotton and are 2 different overdyed greens, 2 different yellows and madder browns and a blue from the 1830's to the 1850's period. It is entirely hand pieced and hand quilted with 12 stitches per inch with a cotton batting. It is a large quilt measuring 90" x 90" in size. It is in excellent condition with no fading or wear. This quilt may have never been used or used very little due to its near mint condition.
